4" Clearance - Our test Passat : We ran the route with a passat that we modified to have 4" of clearance on the front and sides so that we could determine what kind of vehicle clearance is needed for La Carrera Panamericana. We were able to drive the entire route, taking the topes (speedbumps) at a 45% angle. The only two topes that we could not clear are at a military checkpoint near Oaxaca, and the Military is going to move their booths for us so that our cars can drive around them.
